ABOUT THE ROLE
A well-established franchised motor dealership in Potchefstroom is looking for a qualified Diagnostic Technician who specialises in petrol passenger and light commercial vehicles. This is a senior technical role. You'll be the workshop's go-to person for difficult electrical and electronic faults, using OEM diagnostic tools and wiring diagrams to find and fix the problems others can't.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Diagnose and repair complex engine management, electrical and electronic faults on petrol vehicles

Use OEM diagnostic equipment, scan tools, oscilloscopes and wiring diagrams to trace faults

Fix intermittent faults, CAN-bus/network faults and module programming issues

Do software updates, coding and module replacements to manufacturer procedures

Handle technical come-backs and support other technicians on difficult jobs

Carry out services, repairs and pre-delivery inspections when needed

Complete job cards, fault reports and warranty documentation accurately

Meet productivity and quality targets and follow workshop safety standards
Requirements

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

Qualified Motor Mechanic (Red Seal / trade test certificate)

At least 3 years of experience as a diagnostic technician in a franchised dealership

Advanced auto-electrical and electronic diagnostic skills on modern petrol vehicles

Confident using OEM diagnostic software and reading wiring diagrams

Valid driver's licence

Matric (Grade 12)

Clean Criminal Record

ADVANTAGEOUS

Toyota dealership experience (strongly preferred)

Toyota Diagnostic or Master Technician certification

Hybrid vehicle exposure and high-voltage safety training

Warranty and DMS experience

Lives in or near Potchefstroom, or willing to relocate
