About this role

About the Role Campus Recreation Personal Trainers provide one-on-one, buddy, or small-group training, delivering individualized programming, coaching proper technique, and ensuring safe, goal-oriented progress. PTs may also lead workshops, clinics, and fitness classes for UC staff and students, while maintaining professional communication with clients and upholding campus policies. What You'll Do

  • Work with clients in one-on-one, buddy, or small-group training settings.
  • Provide individualized programming, teach proper exercise techniques, and ensure clients safely reach their goals.
  • Lead workshops, clinics, and premium fitness classes for members.
  • Maintain professional communication with clients and potential clients.
  • Conduct client intake sessions to assess baseline fitness and set goals.
  • Develop comprehensive, individualized fitness programs and adapt them over time.
  • Motivate and encourage clients during training sessions.
  • Educate clients on proper technique and equipment use.
  • Monitor progress and adjust plans as needed.
  • Maintain client schedules in Rec Automation.
  • Uphold UC Campus Recreation facility and employee policies.
  • Other duties as assigned. What We're Looking For
  • Certification through ACE, ACSM, NASM, NSCA.
  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Enrolled as a student (part-time) at a post-secondary institution or secondary school; minimum one credit hour; must be at least 16 years old.
  • Availability for 4-10 hours/week; position may require early mornings, late nights, and holidays.
  • Ability to stand, talk, walk, bend, pull/push; lift 45 lb or more.
  • Physical requirements/work environment: Standing, Talking, Walking, Bending, Pulling, Pushing; ability to lift 45 lb or more.
  • Must be eligible to work in the United States; UC is an E-Verify employer. Nice to Have
  • Experience working with diverse populations and in campus recreation settings; ability to lead workshops, clinics, and fitness classes.
  • Strong communication and customer service skills. Compensation & Benefits
  • Pay rate: $15-$18/hour based on experience.
  • 20% discount on programs and services (excluding Pro Shop).
  • UC is an E-Verify employer; as a UC student employee of an Ohio public institution, you will not contribute to the federal Social Security system, other than contributions to Medicare.
