About the Role Canonical is creating a new career path for Performance Engineers who bring exceptional clarity to software performance, correctness and efficiency. These roles will be embedded in every engineering team to drive performance engineering skills, tools, culture and insights across Canonical's product range. Canonical operates a globally distributed, remote-first model with periodic in-person alignment to ensure strategy and execution.
What You'll Do
- Drive performance engineering across Canonical's product range and act as a catalyst for improving performance, correctness and efficiency.
- Work with engineering teams across the full software stack—from kernel up through server and desktop applications, all the way to the web—to identify, measure, and optimize performance bottlenecks.
- Contribute to a central performance engineering team that develops shared tools, dashboarding capabilities, measurement frameworks, analytical capabilities, and skills.
- Collaborate with distributed teams worldwide and participate in 2-4 in-person meetings per year to align on strategy and execution.

Compensation & Benefits
