About the Role Greater Nashua Mental Health is seeking a full-time Peer Support Specialist to join our Emergency Services Team. The Peer Support Specialist develops meaningful and trusting relationships with clients, acts as a mentor, and provides consumers the support they need to advocate for themselves, drawing on personal experiences. This role works as part of an interdisciplinary team and serves as an example of recovery to clients.
What You'll Do
- Work as part of a supportive, multi-disciplinary team using evidence-based treatment modalities to help individuals with severe and persistent mental illness and substance use disorders achieve their treatment goals.
- Provide peer support in the community and in clients' homes, including regular home visits.
- Engage individuals in crisis using life experiences, assist with engagement in services, and develop individualized recovery plans.
- Play an advocacy role, provide transportation, and promote self-care, illness self-management, wellness and recovery.
- Complete documentation and participate in team meetings. Perform other duties or special projects as required.
What We're Looking For
- High School Diploma or GED
- 1-2 years of relevant experience, personally or professionally
- NH Driver’s license, reliable transportation and insurance; ability to transport clients
- Strong collaboration skills; ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Comfortable in a fast-paced environment with frequent deadlines; high energy, self-motivated and proactive
- Must have active driver's license and automobile with liability insurance in the agency's minimum amounts
Compensation & Benefits
- Salary: $15.88 - $21.83 per hour
