Opportunity Overview
The PCB Design Operations Engineer works alongside the PCB Design Services to ensure accurate engineering releases, controlled technical documentation, effective manufacturing support, and reliable coordination with internal teams and suppliers. The position begins with ownership of essential PCB Design operations processes and progressively expands into workflow optimization, data analysis, and continuous improvement.
In this role, you will collaborate with PCB Designers, Hardware Engineers, manufacturing engineers, suppliers, project managers and planners. You will help ensure that fabrication, assembly, and engineering data are complete, current, and available when required. You will also use operational data and stakeholder feedback to identify recurring issues, improve processes, and reduce administrative errors.
The role is expected to develop from structured PCB Design operations support into increasingly independent ownership of process-analysis and factory-support assignments. This progression is consistent with a developing professional role that modifies processes and methods within established guidelines.
Responsibilities include:
- Coordinate PCB design releases and review fabrication, assembly, and engineering data packages for completeness.
- Maintain revision histories, engineering records, procedures, work instructions, and controlled technical documentation.
- Support engineering change control and configuration-management activities.
- Coordinate the delivery of current design data and supporting documentation to manufacturing teams and suppliers.
- Respond to technical and process questions related to PCB release data, documentation, and workflows.
- Maintain PCB Design SharePoint sites, databases, trackers, reports, and knowledge repositories.
- Monitor project deliverables, action items, workflow performance, and operational metrics.
- Analyze process data to identify delays, errors, rework, and opportunities for standardization or automation.
- Investigate recurring workflow and manufacturing-support issues, document root causes, and recommend corrective actions.
- Lead or support continuous-improvement initiatives involving PCB Design, Manufacturing, Quality, suppliers, and program teams.
- Develop and maintain standard operating procedures, training materials, and knowledge-transfer documentation.
- Facilitate process reviews, approval workflows, and implementation of approved improvements.
- Evaluate the effectiveness of implemented changes and communicate results and recommendations to stakeholders.
