Payroll Specialist
We are looking for a Payroll Specialist to support complex payroll operations for a busy organization in Anaheim, California. This Contract position is ideal for a payroll specialist with strong attention to detail who can manage multi-state processing, ensure accurate employee compensation, and uphold compliance with applicable wage and tax regulations. The role requires close attention to detail, strong collaboration across departments, and the ability to handle certified and prevailing wage payroll responsibilities with confidence.
Responsibilities

Administer bi-weekly payroll cycles for employees across multiple states, including off-cycle payments, earning adjustments, and withholding updates.

Review and reconcile timekeeping data to identify discrepancies and confirm accurate pay calculations before each payroll run.

Coordinate employee deductions such as garnishments, retirement contributions, and paid time off balances while maintaining precise records.

Maintain payroll documentation and employee pay data in accordance with company procedures and regulatory requirements.

Prepare payroll-related reports, support account reconciliations and journal entries, and assist with year-end payroll activities.

Address employee questions related to pay, investigate inconsistencies, and resolve payroll issues in a timely manner.

Work closely with Human Resources, Accounting, and operational leaders to support smooth and compliant payroll administration.

Produce certified payroll submissions for public sector or government-funded work and ensure reporting is completed accurately.

Oversee prevailing wage payroll compliance and manage required reporting through LCPtracker and related payroll systems.

Collaborate with external payroll providers and contribute to ongoing payroll process enhancements.

At least 3 years of hands-on payroll experience, including responsibility for full-cycle payroll processing.

Background supporting certified payroll and prevailing wage payroll in a regulated environment.

Practical experience using LCPtracker for certified payroll reporting and submissions.

Familiarity with payroll platforms such as ADP Workforce Now, Paycom, or comparable systems.

Solid knowledge of California payroll regulations and experience handling payroll across multiple states.

Strong Excel skills with the ability to prepare reports, review payroll data, and support reconciliations.

High level of accuracy, organization, and analytical problem-solving in a deadline-driven setting.

Ability to work independently while managing multiple payroll priorities and maintaining compliance.
