Backline Outsourcing - Payroll Auditor
Role Overview
- As a Payroll Auditor, you will review and verify payroll data to ensure accuracy, compliance, and strong internal controls for our clients.
- You will identify discrepancies, investigate their causes, and recommend corrective actions.
Key Responsibilities
- Audit payroll records, calculations, and payments for accuracy and completeness
- Verify tax withholdings, deductions, benefits, and statutory remittances
- Reconcile payroll records to the general ledger and supporting documentation
- Identify errors, duplicate payments, ghost employees, and other irregularities
- Assess payroll internal controls and recommend improvements
- Ensure compliance with applicable payroll, wage, and tax regulations
- Prepare clear audit reports and communicate findings to management and clients
- Maintain accurate documentation and audit trails
- Keep strict confidentiality of sensitive employee and client data
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field
- 4 to 10 years of experience in payroll auditing, payroll processing, or a related audit role
- Strong knowledge of payroll tax, compliance, and reconciliation processes
- Proficiency in Excel and experience with payroll systems (e.g., ADP, Workday, QuickBooks)
- Excellent analytical, investigative, and problem-solving skills
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to work onsite in Jabi, Abuja
Added Advantage:
- Experience with North American payroll (US and/or Canada) significantly increases your chances of securing this position
- Professional certification such as ACA, ACCA, CPA, CIA, or CPP
- Experience with data analytics or audit tools
