About the Role Join the MetroHealth Cleveland Heights Emergency Department as a Patient Care Nurse Assistant (PCNA) / Patient Care Associate. You’ll support acutely ill pediatric to adult patients under the supervision of registered nurses and providers in a 20-bed ED, helping with personal care, vital signs, basic ECG and phlebotomy, and daily patient rounds.
What You'll Do
- Assist patients with personal hygiene, eating and drinking, and daily living activities.
- Answer call lights and take vital signs (temperature, pulse, respiration, blood pressure, height, weight, and other parameters as instructed).
- Perform and transmit basic ECG and phlebotomy procedures.
- Assist nursing staff and work with Registered Nurses, Paramedics, and Providers.
- Conduct regular patient rounds and communicate any changes in condition.
- Collect test specimens and perform laboratory analyses as directed by nursing staff.
- Provide physical support for patients’ activities of daily living and mobility.
What We're Looking For
- Required: High school diploma or equivalent; Completion of a Nurse Assistant Certification Program or equivalent; BLS issued by American Heart Association or Red Cross.
- Preferred: Licensed State Tested Nursing Assistant (STNA) in good standing with Ohio ODHN Nurse Aide Registry; 6+ months of recent experience as a Nurse Assistant in an acute care setting; completion of phlebotomy course or equivalent experience.
Nice to Have
- 6+ months acute care experience (if not listed under 'Preferred' above) and phlebotomy training.
