About the Role The Patient Access Representative III at Linden Oaks Hospital supports patients through the financial entry into treatment, including registration, insurance verification, precertification, and coordination with care teams. This per-diem, part-time role focuses on accurate information capture, patient counseling on benefits, and timely admission processes. What You'll Do
- Collaborate with a licensed clinician to facilitate transfers and complete admission paperwork.
- Perform patient registration and review forms such as Release of Information, Agreement and Authorization, ensuring Joint Commission and CMS forms are signed.
- Change room assignments and adjust census in the system; manage scheduling and transfers from wait list as capacity allows.
- Contact insurance companies to verify eligibility/coverage, obtain benefits details, and communicate estimates to the patient; document quotes in the EMR.
- Provide financial counseling, discuss benefits and financial assistance options, and collect patient portions when needed.
- Explain payment options and arrange payments when authorization by insurance ends; respond to inquiries from patients and insurers; resolve accounts and follow up with management as needed.
- Assist Intake Admission Team by presenting clinical information for pre-certifications and coordinating with Utilization Review; conduct medical necessity reviews for Medicare patients. What We're Looking For
- High School Diploma or GED (required).
- Knowledge of DSM IV-R diagnostic criteria and patient rights and related mental health law; crisis/emergency services experience preferred.
- Minimum of two years in crisis/emergency services/behavioral health; knowledge of insurance plans (Commercial, Managed Care, capitation, Medicare, Medicaid, Workers' Compensation).
- Valid driver's license if offsite duties; auto liability coverage if using personal vehicle.
- Current CPR Certification (American Heart Association) within 90 days of start; CPI (Crisis Prevention Intervention) certification within 90 days of hire. Nice to Have

- Hourly pay range: $19.89 - $28.84 USD.
