Job title: PATH Intl. Certified Therapeutic Driving Instructor
About the Role Therapeutic Driving at UpReach Therapeutic Equestrian Center provides a PATH Intl.-based therapeutic driving program for participants who cannot ride due to weight, balance, fatigue, or the inability to sit astride. An identified participant-specific goal set is supported by a team of PATH Intl. certified staff and trained volunteers. The instructor leads safe, effective lessons year‑round in our insulated arena, with occasional outdoor sessions around the barn.
What You'll Do
- Conduct 30‑minute therapeutic driving lessons for participants, in small groups or one-on-one, year‑round in a 90'×175' insulated arena (weather permitting) and surrounding areas.
- Tailor lessons to each participant's abilities and goals, supporting development of bi-lateral movement, posture, spatial orientation, communication skills, self‑confidence, motor skills, hand‑eye coordination, and stability.
- Safely manage activities for both humans and horses, working with PATH Intl. certified staff and trained volunteers to implement participant goals.
- Collaborate with the UpReach team to align lesson scheduling (six-, seven-, and eight-week terms) so participants attend on the same day and time each week.
What We're Looking For
- PATH Intl. Certified Therapeutic Driving Instructor (required)
- Ability to deliver therapeutic driving instruction safely for participants with weight, balance, fatigue, or difficulty sitting astride; able to adapt goals accordingly
- Strong collaboration skills to work with staff and trained volunteers
- Commitment to safety for humans and horses
Compensation & Benefits
- Not billable to insurance; payment or payment arrangements are due in advance with due dates noted on the UpReach calendar.
- UpReach provides financial assistance based on income when scholarship funding is available.
