Job title: Parts Counterhand
About the Role The Parts Counterhand will perform sales of parts and aftermarket products to external and internal clients, manage pricing and quotations, and ensure accurate records and timely order processing while delivering high-quality customer service.
What You'll Do
- Perform overall sales function of parts and aftermarket product sales to external and internal clients
- Answer customers' questions about products, prices, and availability
- Timeously and accurately prepare and distribute quotes; provide pricing guidelines and discounts pertaining to service agreements / major clients
- Maintain accurate records using automated systems
- Prepare sales contracts for orders obtained and submit orders for processing
- Collaborate with colleagues to exchange information such as selling strategies and marketing information
- Read catalogues, microfiche viewers, or computer displays to determine replacement part stock numbers and prices
- Determine replacement parts required, according to inspections of old parts, customer requests, or descriptions of malfunctions
- Receive and fill telephone orders for parts; fill customer orders from stock
- Prepare sales slips or sales contracts
- Responsible for stock takes – perpetual and bi-annual
- Advise customers on substitution or modification of parts when identical replacements are not available
- Examine returned parts for defects, and exchange defective parts or process credit notes
- Prepare and distribute scheduled (monthly, weekly, and daily) and ad-hoc reports as requested by the department manager
- Timeous and accurate execution of all administrative duties related to this position

- Ensure quality of interaction with and customer service and support levels to internal and external clients, with clear communication and prompt responses to queries
What We're Looking For
- Matric / Grade 12 or equivalent
- 4 to 6 years of experience in parts sales or related industry
- Code 8 Driver’s license
- Experience in and understanding of counter sales functions
- Proficiency with Kerridge system
- Advanced computer literacy (MS Outlook, Word, Excel)
- Knowledge of principles and methods for showing, promoting, and selling products or services
- Knowledge of quality control processes, costs, and techniques for maximizing effective storage and distribution
- Knowledge of mathematical principles, statistics, and their applications
- Knowledge of economic and accounting principles and practices and the analysis of financial data
- Knowledge of customer service principles and practices
- Ability to develop new business and target new accounts
- Strong decision-making, initiative, and time management
- Highly developed prioritising and multi-tasking abilities
- Ability to function under pressure and meet deadlines
- Team player with a customer-first mindset
