About the Role LIU is seeking a budgeted student to support the Center for Gifted Youth. This part-time role provides instructional support and direct services to students and parents, working under the guidance of teachers to foster academic success. What You'll Do
- Provide instructional support and direct assistance to students under teacher supervision.
- Support teachers in the classroom by organizing materials, distributing resources, and assisting with classroom projects.
- Take attendance and supervise student safety, including escorting students to the bathroom and assisting with transitions between classes.
- Escort children between classes and during dismissal; help maintain a nurturing, orderly learning environment.
- Perform light housekeeping tasks in the classroom as assigned. What We're Looking For
- Bright and responsible individuals who enjoy working with school-age children.
- College education majors highly preferred.
- Preference given to LIU students and LIU alumni.
- Ability to work under the supervision of teachers and communicate effectively. Nice to Have
- Experience working with school-age children or in similar educational settings (not explicitly required). Compensation & Benefits
- Salary: $17 per hour; Part-time, non-exempt (FLSA).
- Schedule: Part-time—4 hours each Saturday for ten weeks in the fall and ten weeks in the spring; first Saturday 5 hours; full month in July (19 days) from 9:00 AM to 4:00 PM; total hours per week: 4 (fall) / 4 (spring) / 35 (summer).
- Full-year involvement across the fall, spring, and July summer sessions.
