About the Role Rutgers University Correctional Health Care is seeking a Part Time Staff Nurse for the Adult Diagnostic Treatment Center in Avenel, NJ. This role utilizes the nursing process to meet a variety of health care needs with ambulatory care as a primary focus and requires collaboration with a range of health care professionals and security officers within a correctional environment. What You'll Do

  • Provide direct patient care to inmates and ambulatory patients at the Adult Diagnostic Treatment Center.
  • Utilize the nursing process to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate patient care.
  • Document care and patient data in the electronic medical records (EMR) system and monitor vital signs.
  • Monitor patient status, administer medications as prescribed, and respond to clinical changes in a timely manner.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, including health care professionals and security staff, to ensure safe, high-quality care.
  • Maintain patient confidentiality and uphold professional nursing standards and center policies. What We're Looking For
  • Current, valid nursing license (RN preferred) to practice in New Jersey.
  • Experience in ambulatory care or correctional health care is advantageous.
  • Ability to work effectively in a correctional environment with diverse teams.
  • Strong communication, documentation, and teamwork skills.
  • BLS certification or equivalent. Nice to Have
  • Experience with electronic medical records (EMR) documentation.
  • Prior experience in correctional health care or a prison setting. Compensation & Benefits
