About the Role Join Scholastic as a Part-Time Seasonal Warehouse Associate on the 1st Shift in Birmingham, AL. You will support the production and fulfillment of book fairs, packing and handling book/non-book product, and upholding safety and quality standards. What You'll Do
- Assist in the production of book fairs by packing metal cases, boxes, and displays with book and non-book product according to process and quality standards.
- Demonstrate proficiency in packing all components and sub-components; consistently meet production and accuracy targets.
- Ensure outbound cases, boxes, and displays are clean, safe, and in good condition.
- Assist in processing returned book fairs; unpack and prep items per procedures.
- Monitor inventory levels to ensure proper packing; learn basic scanner proficiency for item inquiries and replenishment.
- Assist in picking and packing customer reorders; maintain neat and safe work area; participate in seasonal inventory resets.
- Learn Fair Finishing and Assembly functions, including QA scanning; participate in physical inventory and customer appreciation warehouse sale events.
- Handle merchandise with care; ensure proper use of warehouse equipment; report unsafe conditions.
- Use proper lifting techniques; climb ladders; push/pull display cases; labor data collection cards; may operate motorized pallet jacks after training.
- Maintain attendance and punctuality; foster courteous relationships with coworkers and customers; comply with drug and alcohol policy.
- Perform other duties as assigned. What We're Looking For
- High School Diploma or GED preferred.
- Basic product scanner proficiency with minimal errors; strong team player with good communication and basic math skills; ability to read English documents.
- Physical ability to lift up to 50 lbs; occasional 30 lbs to 70 inches; push heavy objects; stand for long periods; tolerate non-air conditioned environment; follow detailed assembly instructions.
- Able to work on 1st shift; willing to comply with safety policies. Nice to Have
- Completion of the SBF power equipment training program to operate motorized pallet jacks (optional). Compensation & Benefits
- Hourly rate: $16.00 per hour. Part-time seasonal role; 6:00 am to 3:30 pm shift.
