Position Overview

As a Laboratory Assistant, you will support a fast-paced clinical research laboratory by handling, tracking, storing, and distributing biological specimens. This role is critical to maintaining sample integrity and ensuring accurate documentation throughout the testing process. Success in this position requires strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work efficiently in a high-volume environment.

Schedule & Availability

• Part-time and PRN (as-needed) opportunities available
• Typical hours: 6:00 AM - 3:00 PM
• Laboratory operates 7 days per week
• Hours are driven by workload and business needs
• Weekend availability required

Key Responsibilities

• Receive, organize, and distribute laboratory specimens

• Prepare and manage samples for testing and analysis

• Retrieve specimens for add-on testing and laboratory requests

• Maintain sample storage, inventory, rotation, and disposal processes

• Transfer specimens to and from long-term storage

• Monitor specimen tracking and pending reports

• Maintain accurate documentation and inventory logs

• Follow all laboratory quality, safety, and regulatory procedures

• Perform other duties as assigned

• Required Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent

• Basic computer and documentation skills

• Strong attention to detail and organizational abilities

• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple priorities

• Preferred Qualifications

• Laboratory, healthcare, specimen processing, phlebotomy, or medical experience

• Associate degree in a science or healthcare-related field

• Experience with laboratory information systems and specimen tracking

• Key Skills

• Exceptional attention to detail

• Strong organizational and time management skills

• Accurate documentation and recordkeeping

• Pipetting experience preferred

• Ability to follow detailed laboratory procedures

• Strong communication and teamwork skills
