Position Summary
The Junior Admissions Counselor provides part-time support to the Office of Admission by extending the reach and effectiveness of a full-time Admissions Counselor while contributing to an exceptional campus visit experience. This is a temporary position between the months of October – May.
Working closely with an assigned full-time Admissions Counselor, and specifically supporting our regional counselors, this position assists with student communication, follow-up, recruitment activities, and Slate-based outreach. The role may communicate directly with prospective students and families through personalized text messages, phone calls, and other appropriate channels. In addition, this person will provide visible mentor and role model for Lawrence’s student tour guides to ensure that campus visitors receive a welcoming, authentic, and memorable experience.
Primary Responsibilities
Admissions Counselor Support (80%)
- Support an assigned full-time Admissions Counselor with recruitment and communication activities.
- Utilize Slate to identify and manage prospective student follow-up opportunities.
- Contact prospective students on behalf of the Admissions Counselor through personalized text messages and phone calls.
- Follow up with students regarding applications, visits, events, deadlines, and other engagement opportunities.
- Help maintain timely and meaningful communication with prospective students throughout the admission process.
- Document student interactions and follow-up activities appropriately in Slate.
- Prepare information and follow-up lists for the full-time Admissions Counselor.
- Assist with virtual or in-person recruitment events, admitted student programming, and other enrollment activities as needed.
Visit/Guest Experience (20%)
- Observe tours and provide constructive coaching and feedback to student guides.
- Assist with training and ongoing development of student tour guides, by being a mentor and resource for student tour guides.
- Step in to assist with tours or other visit responsibilities when needed.
