About the Role Roosevelt University seeks a part-time faculty member to teach graduate courses in Higher Education and related subjects within the Interdisciplinary Leadership, Ed.D. program. The role emphasizes innovative, critical teaching methods and preparation of scholarly practitioners focused on equity and justice.

What You'll Do

  • Deliver graduate-level courses in Higher Education or related content according to the provided syllabus and curriculum.
  • Engage students through online lectures, discussions, and other interactive activities; prepare syllabus using the University template; order textbooks/materials via the University bookstore; set up Blackboard course shell with syllabus, materials, and assignments; utilize online teaching tools (Blackboard LMS, video conferencing, discussion boards).
  • Provide student support: facilitate an inclusive online environment; give timely feedback (within one week of submission); respond to inquiries; hold regular office hours (in-person or virtual); maintain regular email contact (response within 24 hours M-F).
  • Design and grade assessments (exams, papers, projects); track and report student progress; submit attendance in the first week; submit mid-term progress reports and final grades by deadlines.
  • Collaborate to develop and update course materials and assessments; ensure content is current and aligned with program objectives and industry standards.
  • Participate regularly in collaboration and communication with program directors, colleagues, and administrative staff; contribute to program reviews and continuous improvement efforts; serve on Doctoral Project Committees; provide guidance to doctoral candidates.
  • Support student recruitment and retention through outreach activities, webinars, and informational sessions; participate in professional development and institutional events as required.

What We're Looking For

  • Hold an Ed.D. or Ph.D. in higher education, student affairs, adult education, or closely related field from an accredited institution.
  • Demonstrated ability to teach graduate courses in higher education using diverse instructional strategies; proven track record of online teaching; ability to advise online adult learners.
  • Active contribution to the University and relevant professional organizations; experience in program administration and coordination.
  • Commitment to working with diverse populations and to diversity, equity, inclusion, and social justice in teaching, research, and/or service.

Nice to Have

  • Experience serving on doctoral project committees and participating in program reviews.
  • Engagement in outreach activities and recruitment efforts for graduate programs.
  • Participation in faculty meetings, training sessions, and other institutional events.

Compensation & Benefits

  • Entry-level compensation for teaching one 3-credit course as of Fall 2025 is $3,982.00; compensation for courses with fewer or more than three credits will be prorated accordingly.
  • Union membership is required for subsequent semesters of employment; voluntary benefits (tuition remission, commuter savings, voluntary retirement contributions, pet insurance) are available upon union membership and eligibility.
