Job title: Part-Time Faculty: HED 712 Research on the College Student (Fall 2026)
About the Role This residential (in-person) course is a 3-credit offering targeted to master’s and doctoral students in higher education/student affairs roles. It provides a comprehensive examination of research on college student access, persistence, and success, with particular attention to students from underrepresented and marginalized communities. The instructor must have scholarly expertise in these areas, professional experience applying knowledge to student-facing, higher education settings, and experience using collaborative, active-learning strategies with a diverse graduate student population.
What You'll Do
- Develop and/or update a class syllabus.
- Order books and materials in advance of the class start date.
- Prepare lectures, projects or other student assignments.
- Meet all designated class periods. If you are unable to meet your class due to illness or emergency, you should move to a synchronous or asynchronous option and notify the faculty director, graduate studies of your absence and your plan to cover the class.
- Present instruction based on the competencies and performance levels of the course.
- Maintain regularly scheduled office hours.
- Grade student assignments and exams in timely manner.
- Collect and submit student assessment data for accreditation purposes, if applicable.
- Submit completed mid-semester progress reports and final grades according to University regulations.
- Provide departmentally sanctioned forms for completed student evaluations.
What We're Looking For
- PhD (earned doctorate) with extensive exposure to academic research on college access and student success in higher education and ability to apply in student affairs/higher education settings.
- Ability to apply knowledge to student-facing higher education settings; experience using collaborative, active-learning strategies with a diverse graduate student population.
- Prior teaching graduate students in student affairs preparation/higher ed administration programs desirable.
- Scholarly expertise in college access, persistence, and related models; ability to apply to practice in student affairs/higher education settings.
- Comfortable teaching in an on-campus environment.

Compensation & Benefits
- Pay Range: $2,084.07 - $2,146.59 per credit hour.
- Faculty pay ranges are for 8.5 months’ salary unless otherwise specified.
