Part-Time Faculty: ENG 304 & 401 (Spring 2026)
About the Role Part-time faculty member to teach ENG 304 (Poetry) and ENG 401 (Advanced Writing Workshop Poetry) for Spring 2026 on the Syracuse University campus. This is an in-person, on-campus role with start date January 5, 2026 (first day of class January 12, 2026). Compensation will be based on the per-credit rate within the department; pay scales reflect eight-and-a-half months for faculty roles.
What You'll Do
- Develop and/or update a class syllabus.
- Order appropriate books and materials in advance of the class start date.
- Prepare lectures, projects, and other student assignments.
- Maintain regularly scheduled office hours (two hours per week).
- Present instruction based on class competencies and performance levels.
- Meet all designated class periods; reschedule promptly if illness or emergency and notify the department chair.
- Work with the academic unit to maintain student learning outcomes.
- Submit completed final grades according to University regulations.
- Grade student assignments and exams in a timely manner.
- Provide departmentally sanctioned forms for completed student evaluations.
- Complete all other course-related duties as outlined by department policies for part-time instructors.
What We're Looking For
- MFA in Creative Writing.

Compensation & Benefits
- Pay range: $1,400 - $1,800 per credit hour. Salary offers based on education, experience, and relevant skills; on-campus position.
