Job title: Part-Time Faculty: ENG 303 English (Spring 2026)
About the Role Part-time faculty member to teach ENG 303 Writing Fiction for 3 credit hours in the Spring 2026 semester on the SU campus, in-person. Start date for this position is 1/05/2026, with first day of class being 1/12/2026. This role involves delivering instruction to undergraduate writers and contributing to a thriving on-campus academic environment. Remote work is limited in accordance with university policy.
What You'll Do
- Develop and/or update a class syllabus.
- Order the appropriate books and materials in advance of the class start date.
- Prepare lectures, projects, and other student assignments.
- Maintain regularly scheduled office hours of two hours per week.
- Present instruction based on the competencies and performance levels of the class.
- Meet all designated class periods.
- If you are unable to meet with your class due to illness or emergency, reschedule the class or obtain a substitute and notify the department chair or designated contact.
- Work with the academic unit to maintain student learning outcomes.
- Submit completed final grades according to University regulations.
- Grade student assignments and exams in a timely manner.
- Provide departmentally sanctioned forms for completed student evaluations.
- Complete all other course-related duties as outlined by department policies for part-time instructors.
What We're Looking For
- MFA in Creative Writing required, with prior teaching experience.
Compensation & Benefits
- Pay range: $1,440 to $1,800 per credit.
- Faculty pay ranges are for 8.5 months’ salary unless otherwise specified.
- Salary offers will be based on education, experience, and relevant skills, as well as the academic or professional discipline of the position in the context of the hiring department; may also be influenced by prior relevant work or industry experience, where applicable, and per-credit-rate history within the hiring department.
- On-campus, in-person teaching with remote work limited by university policy.
