About the Role The Dayton Regional STEM School seeks an innovative Part Time Elementary Intervention Specialist (K-5) to join our team for the 2026-2027 school year. The Intervention Specialist will maximize the learning experience of students with special needs by implementing district-approved curriculum and documenting teaching and student progress/outcomes. The role focuses on creating a safe and optimal learning environment while fostering curiosity and scientific thinking in students.
What You'll Do
- Create and implement IEPs for students with disabilities (75% time).
- Evaluate students to identify strengths and needs; develop and implement IEPs.
- Collaborate with teachers, parents, and other school staff to support student success.
- Monitor and report on student progress regularly.
- Coordinate with external agencies for additional student services when necessary.
- Maintain accurate records and documentation.
- Use data to guide and refine interventions.
- Participate in various meetings (including IEPs, conferences) and professional development opportunities.
- Maintain contact and communication with parents and students.
- Utilize instructional resources and technologies; contribute to the development of the school and assigned class.
- Engage in continuous reflection on teaching practices and leadership behaviors; adapt methods to achieve school goals.
- Participate in building leadership activities and be a team player.
- Participate in the curriculum development process throughout employment.
- Working conditions: 20-30 hours per week; length of contract is one year contingent upon funding.
What We're Looking For
- Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor's degree by start date; teaching license or alternative license by start date; outstanding communication and collaborative skills.
Nice to Have
- Master’s degree.
- Experience as a K–3 grade teacher.
- Experience with project-based learning instructional strategies.
