Job title: Part Time Adventure Trip Leader
About the Role The Part Time Adventure Trip Leader will support student wellness by leading groups of students on outdoor trips and activities, both on and off campus. This on-campus, weekend-focused role requires regular in-person presence and a commitment to safety, peer leadership, and creating meaningful experiences for fellow students.
What You'll Do
- Trip Management: Check attendees onto the bus, verify registrations and paperwork (waivers, contact info) prior to departure.
- Participant Engagement: Actively engage with participants to foster community and an inclusive, energetic environment.
- Leadership & Safety: Lead trip activities as needed, monitor participant well-being, follow risk management protocols, and enforce safety guidelines.
- Addressing On-Site Issues: Serve as first point of contact for issues in the field; communicate with the supervisor and complete incident reports as required.
- Administrative Duties: Attend pre-trip meetings, coordinate with supervisor, submit post-trip reports and hours in a timely manner.
What We're Looking For
- Demonstrated interest in outdoor recreation, adventure programming, or related field.
- Strong communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work flexible hours including mornings, evenings, and weekends; on-campus availability.
- Ability to remain calm and make sound decisions in dynamic or challenging environments.
- CPR/First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain) and ability to perform duties for extended periods in adverse conditions.
Compensation & Benefits
- Pay: $16.00 per hour on-site with a rotating monthly schedule; weekends and select trips.
- Location: Syracuse University, Syracuse, NY.
- Additional shifts may be needed based on operations.
