DESCRIPTION

• Otterbein University invites applications for the position of Part-Time, Adjunct Faculty of Biology with a primary specialization in Anatomy & Physiology for Spring 2027. Candidates must have the ability to teach the lab of an introductory-level Anatomy & Physiology course. This is a part-time, temporary position, but there may be other teaching opportunities in the department and / or A&P for academic year 2027 – 2028.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Teach 2.5 to 5.0 workload hours, either 1 or 2 labs, in the Spring 2027 semester. Labs are scheduled for Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays and have start times of 8:20am, 11:30am, or 2:40pm. We can most likely accommodate your schedule in terms of days and start times.

• COMPENSATION: For individuals with a PhD, the current pay rate is $1,071 to $1,224 per workload hour based upon teaching experience in Anatomy & Physiology.

QUALIFICATIONS

• PhD, MD, or DO; broadly trained in anatomy and physiology. Preference will be given to individuals that have taught A&P labs previously.

• START DATE: This appointment begins in January 2027.

• DEPARTMENT: The Department consists of approximately 300 students, 9 full-time and 8 part-time faculty, a laboratory coordinator, and an administrative assistant. It offers majors in Biology, Environmental Science, and Zoo & Conservation Science, including an Aquarium Track, as well as minors in Biology and Earth Science. Many of our faculty and students are also involved with the interdisciplinary programs in Biochemistry & Molecular Biology, Environmental Studies, and Sustainability.
