About this role

About the Role The Park Services Maintenance Technician II performs skilled and semi-skilled work supporting the maintenance, upkeep, and improvement of the Town’s parks, grounds, and recreational facilities. This role ensures parks are clean, safe, and well-maintained for public use, and assists with athletic field preparation, event setup, and basic equipment maintenance. What You'll Do

  • Perform park maintenance activities including mowing, landscaping, fertilizing, mulching, and general grounds upkeep.
  • Prepare and maintain athletic fields (lining, dragging) and routine/ seasonal maintenance.
  • Empty trash, clean shelters/restrooms, and maintain park facilities.
  • Inspect playground equipment for safety and compliance; assist with specialized turf maintenance as needed.
  • Operate a variety of equipment and assist with event setup and breakdown; manage custodial supplies within budget guidelines; provide backup support for cemetery operations.
  • Participate in on-call duties during evenings, weekends, and holidays; adhere to safety rules and regulations. What We're Looking For
  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Six months of direct experience performing skilled or semi-skilled labor in parks, grounds, golf course maintenance, or similar environment.
  • Possession of a valid North Carolina driver's license.
  • Ability to operate equipment safely and perform manual labor; strong safety, quality, and customer service orientation.
  • Willingness to work in varying environmental conditions and be on-call as required. Compensation & Benefits
