About the Role Join the North America GIM team within Baker McKenzie’s Employment & Compensation practice to assist with billable client work and project assignments across offices worldwide. The role focuses on employment-based immigration filings and related projects, with responsibilities including editing knowledge management tools and coordinating with internal teams and third parties throughout engagements. What You'll Do
- Discharge client assignments defined by the GIM partners and associates, focusing on employment-based immigration.
- Draft and prepare employment-based and permanent residency filings (e.g. H-1B, L-1, I-140, Adjustment of Status, and PERM).
- Edit and maintain billable and knowledge management tools published by the E&C group.
- Conduct billable projects, working individually or within teams.
- Communicate with the instructing team, other internal Baker McKenzie teams and third parties as appropriate during billable projects.
- Compile appropriate documentation/forms/filings for client matters.
- Ensure compliance with Firm time recording requirements on projects.
- Review, analyze and organize documentary and factual evidence. What We're Looking For
- Bachelor’s degree required; Paralegal Certificate from an ABA-approved program preferred.
- Experience in U.S. Immigration law preferred, particularly experience at a law firm.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with demonstrated ability to juggle multiple tasks.
- Excellent working knowledge of Microsoft PowerPoint, Word, Excel and online research tools.
- Strong attention to detail; excellent writing and organizational skills; good communication skills.
- Ability to work well in both a team and individually; keen to develop and use initiative. Nice to Have
- Paralegal Certificate from an ABA-approved program (preferred).
- Experience in U.S. Immigration law, particularly at a law firm (preferred).
