About the Role The Paint and Body Technician role supports JB Hunt's fleet by troubleshooting, repairing, and painting tractors and related equipment. This position involves body repair, fiberglass and cosmetic work, and routine maintenance, with potential outdoor work, shifts including nights or weekends, and overtime. What You'll Do
- Inspect damaged or wrecked equipment and perform valuations to create cost estimates for repairs
- Rebuild and paint wrecked trucks, hoods, and body parts with focus on fiberglass and cosmetic repairs
- Demonstrate proficient knowledge of preventative maintenance and parts replacement, including fuel system, battery, engine, drive train, onboard computer, transmission, and air brake systems; comply with FHWA inspections
- Accurately perform intermediate repairs to company and manufacturer specs; complete work orders; adhere to SRT and warranty guidelines
- Troubleshoot tractor issues; work independently and seek assistance as needed
- Follow all shop safety procedures and maintain a respirator log
- Maintain professional communication with JB Hunt personnel and customers
- Participate in OEM training for OE repairs
- Operate wrecker to move trucks into shop for repairs
- Perform post-maintenance diagnostics and testing
- Shift schedules may vary by location and business needs What We're Looking For
- Minimum qualifications: 18 years old with 1-2 years of body repair/semi-tractor maintenance and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience; willingness to work outdoors and across multiple shifts including nights/weekends
- A/C Certification
- At least 1 year of experience in DOT inspections, FHWA inspections, and air brakes
- Preferred: High School Diploma or GED with similar experience; willingness to work outdoors Nice to Have
- Fiberglass and cosmetic repair experience
- Wrecker operation experience
