About the Role Lead a team of transmission engineers and designers on overhead line projects from 12 kV to 500 kV. The role blends technical leadership with hands-on engineering, offering opportunities to influence project strategy, mentor staff, and drive high-quality design execution. You’ll oversee the full lifecycle of overhead transmission projects from concept through construction support, ensuring safe, reliable, and constructible solutions for utility and EPC clients. What You'll Do
- Lead and mentor a team of transmission engineers and designers working on overhead line projects.
- Oversee development of conceptual designs, routing evaluations, structure type selection, and cost/constructability assessments.
- Review and approve detailed design deliverables, including: o Plan & profile drawings o Structure loading and design packages o Conductor and hardware specifications o Foundation load requirements o Bills of material and construction work packages
- Utilize industry standard tools such as PLS-CADD, PLS Pole/Tower, and SAG10 to guide and validate engineering work.
- Coordinate schedules, workloads, and priorities to meet client and project requirements.
- Identify and mitigate technical and execution risks to support safe and efficient construction.
- Collaborate closely with civil, structural, environmental, and electrical teams to ensure integrated project delivery.
- Provide engineering support during procurement and construction, including responding to RFIs and resolving field issues. What We're Looking For
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil, Structural, Electrical, or related engineering.
- 8-10 years of overhead transmission line design for utility or EPC projects.
- Proficiency with PLS‑CADD and related transmission design software.
- Experience leading engineering teams or serving as a technical lead.
- Solid understanding of NESC, ASCE, and utility‑specific design standards.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to coordinate across disciplines.
