Job title: Overhead Crane Operator

About the Role Aecon is seeking a dependable, safety-focused operator who can efficiently operate overhead cranes to lift, move, and position materials and equipment. The role requires careful attention to load safety, following written, verbal, and signal instructions, and precise crane control, along with regular inspection and maintenance of equipment. The position may involve challenging conditions (confined spaces, elevated heights, outdoor environments, temperature extremes, and respiratory protection), and duties may shift based on project needs.

What You'll Do

• Operate traveling or stationary overhead cranes to lift and move materials and equipment.
• Safely attach loads using hooks, slings, buckets, or other hoisting devices.
• Observe load hookups and assess load safety before and during operation.
• Control crane movements using pedals, levers, and buttons according to instructions or signals.
• Inspect cranes and hoisting mechanisms for defects or malfunctions.
• Clean, lubricate, fuel, and perform routine maintenance on equipment.
• Report mechanical issues or safety concerns to supervisors.
• Comply with OSHA requirements and work safely while using required protective equipment.
• This is not for a current project. We are taking applications for consideration on future roles.
