About the Role Orthopedic Physician - Hand role focused on delivering high-quality, cost-effective medical care for patients in the orthopedic hand specialty. The physician will evaluate, diagnose, and treat clinical patients while coordinating with the care team to ensure timely access to services. What You'll Do
- Provides medical patient care by interviewing, examining and treating clinical patients to meet medical needs
- Educates patients on wellness, prevention, and early detection by providing materials and resources to patients and families
- Shares health care duties with other physicians to ensure physician availability at all times
- Determines which referrals are required based on examination and patient needs
- Determines level of urgency of follow-ups, referrals/consultations
- Exercises final medical judgment in all issues of health care
- Prescribes medical treatment and clinical drugs to patients
- Orders studies, tests and ancillary services
- Documents all services in patient medical records
- Reviews long-term cases requiring ongoing medical attention
- Consults with Medical Director and other professionals on patient care, assessment, and education issues
- Participates in quality improvement, management, continuing education, and other patient care programs
- Oversees mid-level medical staff and nursing clinical staff as assigned
- Assists in resolution of complaints, requests and inquiries from patients
- Maintains confidentiality of patient information according to federal guidelines and regulations
- Participates in teaching sessions for hospital/medical staff, residents and/or medical students as assigned
