Job title: Orientation & Mobility Specialist
About the Role The Orientation & Mobility (O&M) Specialist – CONTRACTOR is responsible for providing face-to-face orientation and mobility services to eligible special education students with visual impairments enrolled in virtual public schools within the K12/Stride network. Services are provided in accordance with students’ Individualized Education Programs (IEPs). The O&M Specialist will collaborate with virtual school teams to support students’ travel skills, independence, safety, and access across home, school, and community environments.
What You'll Do
- Provide face-to-face orientation and mobility services to eligible students with visual impairments enrolled in virtual public schools within the K12/Stride network.
- Develop and implement O&M goals aligned with each student’s IEP.
- Collaborate with virtual school teams to support travel skills, independence, safety, and access across home, school, and community environments.
- Monitor student progress, maintain documentation per IEP requirements, and adjust instruction as needed.
- Communicate with families and school staff to support continuity of O&M goals across settings.
What We're Looking For
- Experience delivering orientation and mobility services to students with visual impairments in educational settings.
- Knowledge of IEP processes and ability to align O&M goals with IEP objectives.
- Strong collaboration and communication skills to work with virtual school teams, families, and educators.
- Ability to work as a contractor/part-time staff member in a remote/public school network environment.
- Comfort delivering face-to-face instruction in homes, schools, and community settings.
