Job title: Organizing Director (External Organizing Department)

About the Role The Organizing Director leads SEIU-USWW’s non-union worker organizing programs, planning and executing campaigns to grow the union and build enduring worker power. The role also includes membership expansion, leadership development, and coordination of communications, community organizing, and legal strategies within organizing campaigns. This position supervises USWW’s Organizing Team and collaborates with the Chief of Staff and leadership to steward USWW’s vision and ensure impact.

What You'll Do

  • Design and implement comprehensive worker organizing campaigns that build power.
  • Develop and execute a long-term base-building strategy rooted in worker leadership development.
  • Oversee the structure and coordination of member committees and leadership bodies; support policy and community campaigns.
  • Supervise, train, and mentor organizing staff; develop trainings for staff and leaders including organizing skills and campaign strategy.
  • Build and maintain strategic relationships with government entities, partner and ally organizations, coalitions, and community leaders; represent USWW in coalitions.
  • Collaborate with the Chief of Staff and the leadership team to steward USWW’s mission and ensure impact.

What We're Looking For

  • Experienced in leading organizing campaigns and base-building; experience with non-union organizing preferred.
  • Proven ability to supervise, train, and develop organizing staff; foster accountability and mutual support.
  • Strong relationship-building skills with government entities, partner organizations, coalitions, and community leaders; adept at coalition work.
  • Ability to coordinate with communications, policy, and legal strategies within organizing campaigns.
  • Collaborative mindset to work with senior leadership to advance USWW’s vision.

Compensation & Benefits

  • Salary Range: $110,149.43 – $113,949.58 USD per year.
