About the Role Jobs With Justice Organizer leads, develops and executes innovative and generative campaigns to expand worker organizing and bargaining. The Organizer is accountable to the Organizing Director and can be based anywhere in the United States with easy access to an airport, with a strong preference for candidates in the Washington, D.C., metro area.

What You'll Do

• Lead, analyze and test emerging campaign strategies and execute campaign plans to win significant victories that improve workers’ lives.
• Mobilize and support JWJ staff, inter-disciplinary teams, local coalitions, national partners, and allies to expand organizing and bargaining.
• Develop the skills and leadership of local organizers in the JWJ network.
• Support the JWJ Training Team in conducting nationwide trainings for JWJ coalitions and partners.
• Coordinate a table of key stakeholders to carry out campaign plans and integrate the network into strategic solidarity opportunities.
• Provide targeted technical assistance to local coalitions and partners moving organizing and bargaining strategies.
• Document relevant communications, activities, and outcomes; organize knowledge transfer to build capacity.
• Cultivate resources (financial and in-kind) to support current and potential campaigns.
• Collaborate with JWJ staff to strengthen campaigns, coalitions and local affiliates; be a flexible member of the national team.
• Travel as needed to support peak campaign activity and coordination with partners.

What We're Looking For

• Three plus years of organizing experience with worker-related campaigns and projects.
• Experience with creative direct action.
• Ability to coach local leaders on sustaining long-term relationships through campaign work and strategy development.
• Demonstrated commitment to racial justice.
• Ability to work collectively, handle and resolve conflict, and facilitate groups.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Self-motivated with strong work planning and time management.
• Understanding of and commitment to a broader working-class perspective.
• Ability to travel as needed, average of 5 days per month, with more during peak campaign activity.

Nice to Have

• Experience with Jobs With Justice, JWJ local coalition affiliates, or JWJ partners.
• Labor movement/worker organizing experience.
• Multilingual fluency.
• Experience using issue campaigns (policy fights, wage theft, etc.) to drive mobilizations.
• Ability to develop and lead trainings.

Compensation & Benefits

• Salary: Starting in the mid $70,000s (step 3) depending on years of experience, as referenced within the collective bargaining agreement.
• Benefits: Generous benefits package including paid vacation, medical, dental, and retirement benefits. This is a union-represented position represented by the Washington-Baltimore News Guild.
