Job Summary

The candidate must be an experienced and independently competent Ophthalmologist to join their team. This role requires someone who can provide comprehensive ophthalmic care from consultation through investigation, treatment and discharge, perform routine ophthalmic surgery competently, and provide clinical supervision to other members of the eye-care team. The ideal candidate is clinically skilled, detail-oriented, and committed to patient safety and quality care.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive ophthalmic care from consultation through investigation, treatment and discharge.
• Assess and manage general ophthalmic conditions and perform routine ophthalmic surgery competently.
• Provide appropriate preoperative and postoperative care and maintain accurate records.
• Supervise optometrists, nurses and other members of the eye-care team.
• Participate in clinical governance, patient-safety and quality-improvement activities.

Qualifications and Requirements:

• Fellowship in Ophthalmology from the National Postgraduate Medical College of Nigeria, West African College of Surgeons, or an appropriate Royal College.
• Current MDCN registration and annual practising licence.
• Post-fellowship clinical and surgical experience is preferred.
• Must be independently competent in routine ophthalmic procedures.
