Job title: Operations Team Leader
About the Role Lead the structural operations team to promote teamwork and continuous improvement within the Portland-based Structurals organization. This role supports budgeting items, shipments, process control issues, and cross training to optimize daily throughput and overall performance.
What You'll Do
- Prioritize work and shift setup in accordance with throughput requirements.
- Participate in staffing projections.
- Facilitate scheduling of team overtime and vacation in accordance with policy.
- Handle first-line performance issues; communicate with employees in a respectful manner regarding time management and workmanship; notify supervision when further action is required to improve performance.
- Provide objective, fact-based input for Project Team Build/Project Win and for performance reviews and measurements.
- Train employees on new skills if TATS certified; if not, coordinate with the TATS trainer and work with employees to improve performance to satisfactory levels or maintain satisfactory performance; when appropriate, assign someone to provide training.
- Coordinate resources to move from one area to help another when necessary to meet daily throughput and support outside departments.
- Be sensitive to and proactively support the maintenance of a harassment-free environment.
- Avoid favoritism or the perception of favoritism.
