Job Summary

  • The Operations Manager will be responsible for directing, planning, and optimizing all manufacturing workflows, plant maintenance, supply chain synchronization, and quality control processes.
  • The ideal candidate will bridge technical production requirements with strategic business goals, ensuring maximum output, cost efficiency, safety compliance, and minimal downtime.
  • To support our rapid growth, maintain high operational standards, and drive production efficiency across our facilities, we are seeking a results-oriented, highly analytical, and disciplined Operations Manager to oversee day-to-day factory operations.

Key Responsibilities

Production & Operational Oversight:

  • Direct and oversee daily production schedules across factory units to ensure output targets, quality specs, and delivery deadlines are consistently met.
  • Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) including overall equipment effectiveness (OEE), production yield, downtime, scrap/waste percentages, and unit costs.
  • Streamline production workflows, eliminate operational bottlenecks, and drive continuous improvement through lean manufacturing principles.

Resource & Supply Chain Coordination:

  • Collaborate closely with Procurement, Warehousing, and Internal Control to ensure continuous supply of raw materials, spare parts, and consumables.
  • Optimize raw material utilization and implement strict inventory control measures to minimize material loss and unauthorized usage.
  • Coordinate product dispatch and logistics schedules with logistics officers and transport drivers to guarantee timely customer deliveries.

Plant Maintenance & Asset Management:

  • Oversee preventative and corrective machinery maintenance schedules in coordination with the engineering and technical teams to prevent costly breakdowns.
  • Ensure factory equipment, heavy machinery, power generation units, and transport fleets (e.g., DYNA trucks, forklifts) are operating efficiently and safely.
  • Evaluate factory infrastructure requirements and manage capital expenditure (CapEx) projects for machinery upgrades or facility expansion.

Quality Assurance, Health, Safety & Environment (HSE):

  • Enforce strict quality assurance protocols across all stages of raw material input, active production runs, and finished goods inspection.
  • Lead compliance with factory health and safety regulations, ensuring proper usage of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), maintenance of First Aid standards, and hazard mitigation.
  • Champion a culture of workplace safety, cleanliness (5S standards), and operational discipline across the factory floor.

People Leadership & Administrative Control:

  • Provide leadership, direction, and technical guidance to factory supervisors, section heads, machine operators, and support staff.
  • Partner with the HR Department to manage workforce planning, shift scheduling, performance evaluations, skills training, and factory floor discipline.
  • Resolve operational disputes, manage staff allocation during peak production runs, and foster high team morale and accountability.

Reporting & Cost Management:

  • Prepare and submit daily, weekly, and monthly operational performance reports to Executive Management.
  • Monitor operational budgets, analyze production variances, and implement aggressive cost-saving initiatives without compromising quality or safety.

Key Requirements & Qualifications

  • Education: Bachelor’s Degree or HND in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Industrial Production Engineering, Operations Management, or a related discipline. A Master’s degree or professional certifications (e.g., PMP, Lean Six Sigma) will be an added advantage.
  • Experience: 7–10 years of progressive experience in industrial manufacturing or factory operations, with at least 3–5 years in a senior supervisory or managerial capacity.
  • Industry Background: Prior experience managing operations in heavy manufacturing, glass manufacturing, wood/furniture production, packaging, or assembly operations is highly desirable.
  • Technical Knowledge: Strong understanding of plant machinery maintenance, production planning tools, inventory management systems, and factory HSE standards.
  • Leadership & Communication: Outstanding team management, conflict resolution, negotiation, and report-writing skills.
  • Problem-Solving & Commercial Acumen: Exceptional analytical capacity, budget management abilities, and crisis-management decision-making skills.
  • Location: Abuja or its environs will be most preferred.
