Open Scholarships - Thurgood Marshall College Fund

Thurgood Marshall College Fund

About this role

About the Role Open Scholarships through the Thurgood Marshall College Fund provide scholarships to students at TMCF member schools and other eligible accredited institutions. The program awarded over $20M to more than 2,000 students for the 2023-2024 academic year, and many awards are one-time, non-renewable. Scholarships are offered without regard to race, color, creed, religion, sex, disability, or national origin, and aim to ease financial barriers to higher education.

What You'll Do

  • Review and apply for Open Scholarships via the TMCF Scholarship Portal.
  • Create a Student Profile (if you don’t already have one) and apply to matched scholarships.
  • Submit all required materials for each selected scholarship and check the Scholarship Portal dashboard for status updates.
  • Prepare and share any additional documents or video submissions required; ensure video links are publicly accessible.
  • Explore the list of TMCF member schools to verify eligibility and opportunities.

What We're Looking For

  • Eligibility varies by scholarship; you must meet ALL requirements to apply.
  • Applicants may apply to all eligible scholarships; however, multiple scholarships per academic year are not guaranteed.
  • High school students should use a personal email address that remains accessible after graduation; current college students should use the email they check most often.
  • Complete the general application in the Scholarship Portal to receive a list of eligible scholarships; ensure all details are accurate before submitting.
  • Once submitted, applications cannot be edited; reviewers will assess based on the provided materials.

Compensation & Benefits

  • The program has awarded over $500 million in scholarships and career readiness programs historically.
  • For 2023-2024, over $20M in scholarships were awarded to more than 2,000 students.
  • Scholarships may cover tuition, fees, on-campus housing, and room and board depending on the specific award (Gap Completion Scholarships, Access Scholarships, Programmatic Scholarships). Scholarships are typically one-time and non-renewable.
