Job title: Open Rank Assistant/Associate/Professor, Human Factors Psychology (Revised)

About the Role The Department of Psychology seeks a tenure-track Open Rank faculty member in Human Factors Psychology to begin 8/1/2026. A Ph.D. in Psychology or a related field with HF training is required; ABD candidates will be considered if requirements are fulfilled by the start date.

What You'll Do

  • Teach undergraduate and graduate courses (e.g., HF, cognition, research methods) and graduate courses in HF psychology, human and AI teaming, situated cognition, and data analytics.
  • Mentor graduate students and establish an independent program of research with potential for external funding.
  • Pursue a research agenda compatible with AFRL interests and build on existing collaborations with Wright-Patterson AFB and other campus partners.
  • Collaborate across colleges (e.g., interdisciplinary PhD program in Biomedical Sciences) and participate in service activities.
  • Time allocation: roughly 40% research, 40% instruction, 20% service; teaching load subject to tenure progress.

What We're Looking For

  • Minimum qualifications: Membership in HFES or a related professional organization.
  • Assistant Professor: Ph.D. in Psychology or a related discipline; ABD considered with requirements fulfilled by start date; active engagement in research and promise of establishing externally funded program.
  • Associate Professor / Professor: Ph.D. in Psychology or related discipline; qualifications for the rank; sustained/high-quality teaching and scholarship; record of external funding commensurate with rank.

Nice to Have

  • Assistant Professor: HF psychology specialization, previously established independent research program, prior teaching experience, research agenda compatible with AFRL, evidence of prior funding.
  • Associate Professor / Professor: HF psychology specialization, excellence in undergraduate and graduate teaching, research agenda compatible with AFRL, evidence of prior funding.
