About this role
Job title: Open Job Data Pool Platform Engineer
About the Role Join the Open Job Data Pool initiative to design, build, and maintain the canonical data layer for job listings. You will help coordinate ingestion from multiple sources, normalize and enrich data, and develop surfaces such as search and APIs that improve transparency and accessibility of structured job data.
What You'll Do
- Design and maintain a canonical data domain for job listings, including fields like title, company, location, compensation, source, posting date, apply URL, remote policy, employment type, lifecycle status, and provenance.
- Build and maintain ingestion pipelines from a variety of sources (career pages, job boards, ATS endpoints, public feeds, partner datasets) and implement deduplication, normalization, freshness checks, and trust scoring.
- Implement and document provenance, data transformation histories, and API contracts; contribute to RFCs and translator surfaces.
- Collaborate with mass aggregators and developer surfaces to enable AI-enabled tooling that relies on structured data.
- Monitor data freshness and source health, detect stale or dead listings, and manage re-ingestion and de-duplication.
- Deliver developer-facing surfaces (search, bulk downloads, transparency pages, scraper documentation) and consumer-facing surfaces as part of the pool.
What We're Looking For
- Experience building scalable data platforms, canonical data models, and ingestion pipelines.
- Strong understanding of data normalization, deduplication, provenance, and schema design for structured data.
- Familiarity with scraping, ATS/page scraping, APIs, data quality, trust scoring, and source monitoring.
- Ability to design data schemas that support AI workflows and reduce hallucination risk.
- Excellent communication and ability to coordinate across multiple data sources and teams.
Nice to Have
- Experience with open data initiatives, RFCs, API documentation, or transparency pages.
- Familiarity with mass aggregators and data provenance tooling, or building for AI-assisted workflows.
Compensation & Benefits
- Salary and benefits not specified in the posting.
