About the Role Liberty University is seeking an Online Chair for the Helms School of Government. This is a full-time, 12-month contracted administrative faculty position charged with maintaining the integrity of online programs and ensuring alignment with the University mission and vision, as well as operational excellence in faculty management, program administration, and student success.

What You'll Do

  • Oversee the online curriculum and course delivery to ensure content integrity and alignment with educational guidelines and the University mission and vision.
  • Develop curriculum, collaborate with publishers and Subject Matter Experts, and monitor End of Course Evaluations and grade distributions.
  • Communicate hiring needs and participate in the online faculty recruitment and onboarding process with the Associate/Assistant Dean and Faculty Support Coordinator.
  • Qualify and train online faculty to teach specific courses; lead and mentor a team of online faculty including Instructional Mentors, Program Directors, and Subject Matter Experts.
  • Manage faculty scheduling and staffing, cover for faculty during absences, and coordinate contract fulfillment and escalation of issues with the Faculty Support Coordinator.
  • Oversee course assignments and verification processes; schedule courses in the Faculty Assignment Tool to meet deadlines and ensure credentialed staffing; coordinate with Chairs across the College/School.
  • Provide departmental oversight for online courses in specific areas, troubleshoot content and technology issues, address faculty concerns, and communicate policies and reminders; resolve student complaints, grade appeals, and academic integrity reviews.
  • Analyze course and faculty performance and assess student experience to ensure alignment with curriculum goals and student success metrics; conduct faculty assessments and student experience reviews.
  • Participate in budgeting, attend departmental and university meetings, and contribute to special projects and university service.
  • Spiritual Leadership: foster a commitment to the Christian life, doctrinal beliefs, spiritual development of faculty, staff, and students, and the university mission.

What We're Looking For

  • Terminal degree in Criminal Justice or a closely related field from an accredited institution (required).
  • Evidence of effective university-level administration and faculty oversight (required).
