Ancillary Details Of The Roles
-
Engagement model: Two-year, on-call field support; exact start and end dates TBD. Routine notice is expected one to three weeks before a task. Urgent needs may require mobilization within several days. Typical field assignments are one to two weeks and may extend to three or four weeks.
-
Hours: No guaranteed minimum is stated. Plan for 30-50 hours per active week, 80-160 hours in a typical intermittent month, and up to 160-200 hours in a heavy month. A full-shift monitoring event commonly requires 10-12 billable hours including access, briefing, calibration, sampling, post-calibration, documentation, custody, and shipment. Overtime requires advance authorization.
-
Work setting: Active construction areas at DOE-SRS near Aiken, South Carolina. The technician must be able to wear required PPE, remain in the field for full shifts, handle sampling equipment and media, and work around demolition, fabrication, welding, equipment installation, and powered tools.
-
Industrial hygiene need: Demolition and concrete disturbance may require silica and total-dust monitoring; fabrication and powered-tool work may require noise monitoring; carbon-steel welding may require welding-fume and metals evaluation; and stainless-steel welding may require separate chromium, nickel, and hexavalent-chromium sampling. A total-dust or silica sample does not by itself characterize every welding-fume constituent.
-
Work will be performed under an approved sampling strategy and technical direction from the Industrial Hygienist or CIH. Remote CIH support may include sampling-plan review, method/media selection, data validation, result interpretation, corrective-action recommendations, and technical-report review.
-
Available technician and CIH names: TBD. Confirm equipment provider, designated laboratory, analytical methods, reporting limits, turnaround times, shipment method, badge sponsor, Site training, medical/PPE requirements, project-area access, reporting format, work schedule, cancellation terms, and actual mobilization date before authorization to proceed.
