Job title: Ocean Export Specialist
About the Role Lead and manage the Ocean Export department to ensure compliant ocean freight movement from China, aligning with policy and legal requirements while driving bottom-line results. This role focuses on maintaining efficient department workflows, supervising staff, and coordinating with carriers, authorities, customers and suppliers to support lawful, timely export operations.
What You'll Do
- Manage and develop efficient flow of work to maximize department productivity.
- Identify problems and implement effective solutions; use reports to quantify workload and prioritize tasks.
- Communicate with export-related authorities, customers and suppliers to ensure compliant and positive relationships across relevant countries.
- Collaborate with other departments to support export activities and organizational operations.
- Initiate, promote and implement changes to increase organizational effectiveness; make sound decisions based on analysis and judgment.
- Ensure staff have training and resources to perform their jobs; supervise staff and ensure achievement of financial goals.
- Negotiate with local carriers on spot pricing and issue rate quotes.
- Maintain TSA compliance for the branch; provide quotes to internal and external clients; participate in outside sales as needed.
- Maintain records for truckers (insurance certs, tariffs) and coordinate with 3rd party warehouses.
- Prepare and deliver delivery documents to 3rd party warehouses and US Customs; meet with SSL, ocean carriers, warehouse agents and truckers to review service needs.
- Handle shipments with applicable compliance requirements; manage local pricing records from all carriers.
- Audit export files for compliance and profitability; handle dangerous goods processing for air export when applicable.
- Escalate department concerns to upper management and track service faults from 3rd party warehouses.
- Perform other duties as requested.

- Education and Experience: High school diploma or GED; College diploma a plus; minimum 7 years relevant Export (Air or Ocean) and freight forwarding experience; minimum 3 years supervisory experience; knowledge of procedures for international and domestic freight, trucking and warehouse services; TSA compliant; Dangerous Goods awareness.
