For every child, the right to a Calling

How can you make a difference?

Madagascar faces one of the highest burdens of child malnutrition globally, with poor dietary diversity remaining a key contributor to undernutrition among young children. Achieving sustainable improvements in child nutrition requires not only nutrition-specific interventions but also stronger food systems that increase the availability, accessibility, affordability, and consumption of nutritious foods. In line with UNICEF’s mandate to protect the rights and well-being of every child and contribute to the achievement of Sustainable Development Goal 2 (Zero Hunger), UNICEF Madagascar is implementing the First Food initiative to improve the diets of children aged 6–23 months through food systems approaches and multisectoral partnerships. Based within the Nutrition Section, the Nutrition Specialist (First Food) will provide technical leadership and programme support to advance innovative solutions, strengthen partnerships, and scale up interventions that improve child dietary diversity and nutrition outcomes, particularly in priority regions of southern and south-eastern Madagascar.

Join UNICEF Madagascar's Nutrition team and contribute to improving nutrition outcomes for school-age children and adolescents across the country. Under the supervision of the Nutrition Specialist, you will support the design, implementation, monitoring and evaluation of nutrition programmes, helping to translate evidence and policy into impactful action for children and young people.

The role combines programme development and planning, programme management, monitoring and delivery of results, technical and operational support to programme implementation, networking and partnership building, and innovation, knowledge management and capacity building. You will work closely with government counterparts, UN agencies, development partners, civil society organizations and other UNICEF sectors to strengthen multisectoral approaches, generate evidence, monitor programme performance and build sustainable national capacity.

Through your contributions, you will help accelerate progress towards improved nutrition, health and well-being outcomes for Madagascar's children and adolescents, while advancing UNICEF's commitment to equity and the rights of every child.
