SUMMARY OF RESPONSIBILITIES

Provides academic and clinical instruction within the Department of Nursing. Plans, coordinates, and conducts classroom and/or clinical experiences for students. Reports directly to the Director of Undergraduate Nursing. Responsibilities also include a strong commitment to advising, student progression, and retention.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

• Maintains academic standards as established by the nursing department and
• Teaches students in clinical, laboratory, and classroom settings as
• Participates in planning, organization, and deployment of courses as appropriate to assignment.
• Participates in the development, implementation, and evaluation of course activities as appropriate to
• Participates in program and department activities associated with professional
• Incorporates new knowledge and techniques in clinical, classroom, and laboratory
• Maintains working knowledge of technology required to perform
• Displays a scholarly orientation to the assumption of the responsibilities of a full-time university faculty member:
• Utilizes teaching-learning principles
• Serves as a knowledgeable resource person to students and
• Shares professional expertise at the local
• Understands and follows both Schreiner University and Division of Nursing faculty and student handbooks.
• Responds to emails and other forms of communication promptly throughout the work.

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS REQUIRED

• Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) is preferred.
• Minimum of a Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) required for vocational nursing instruction.
• Unencumbered license to practice professional nursing in Texas or another interstate compact state.
• Current American Heart Association BLS certification.
• Up-to-date immunizations and other compliance requirements as per Division of Nursing Faculty Handbook.
• At least 3 years of hands-on clinical experience
• 1 year of nursing education experience preferred.
• Effective organizational, interpersonal, verbal, and written communication that promotes teamwork and student engagement.

Working Conditions

Generally, works in climate-controlled environments, sitting, standing, stooping, walking, bending, pushing and/or pulling and reaching. Uses computer equipment. Requires manual dexterity and both hands to perform nursing functions. Lifting up to 50 pounds may be required.
