Job title: Nurse (Occupational Health)
About the Role Join Bachoco USA as an on-site Occupational Health Nurse responsible for attending to and following up on plant injuries and illnesses, and providing emergency medical assistance as needed. You will deliver preventive care to workers, maintain medical documentation, and support the Safety Department with hearing testing and accident reporting. The role requires on-call availability and collaboration with Nursing Supervisors and plant staff to ensure safe operations and compliance with food safety standards.
What You'll Do
- Be available at the Nurse's Station to attend to occupational injuries and illnesses and provide emergency medical assistance as needed.
- Provide preventive treatment for injuries and conduct post-employment physicals.
- Follow up on light-duty personnel to ensure doctor’s orders are followed.
- Initiate accident reports and forward to the proper personnel; complete needed paperwork.
- Conduct non-DOT drug and alcohol testing per Company policy.
- Assist the Safety Department during annual hearing testing and follow-up.
- Document all medical procedures in the Nurse's notes; monitor AED status and report results to the Nursing Supervisor.
- Inventory and/or order supplies; keep the Nurse's Station clean and organized.
- Enforce food safety measures such as SQF and GMPs.
- Maintain excellent attendance and coordinate with other facility Nurses to cover absences; on-call as needed.
- Respond to on-call duties within one hour of travel; be prepared to come in when necessary, including weekends or shifts covered by temps.
- Relieve security guards for breaks when not providing medical care; verify authorized entry and manage information for trucks and vendors.
- Submit to and pass a background investigation and perform other duties as required.
What We're Looking For
- Education and/or Experience: High school diploma or GED; or 6–12 months related experience and/or training; or an equivalent combination.
- Licenses: LPN, EMT or other designation as deemed sufficient by the Medical Director; valid driver’s license.
- Language Skills: Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business materials; write reports and procedures; effectively present information.
- Mathematical Skills: Ability to perform basic arithmetic and interpret rates, ratios, percentages; interpret simple graphs.
- Reasoning Ability: Ability to solve practical problems and interpret instructions in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
- Computer Skills: Knowledge of HR systems; spreadsheet and word processing software.
- Certificates, Licenses, Registrations: LPN, EMT or other as designated by the Medical Director.
- Other Skills and Abilities: Ability to communicate with the Medical Director's staff, temporary staffing agencies, Bachoco USA Management, and Bachoco USA Employees.
- Physical Demands: Regularly sit; use hands; talk or hear; occasionally stand, walk, reach, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; lift up to 10–50 pounds; vision requirements including near, distance, color, depth perception, and focus adjustment.
- Work Environment: Role involves working in a plant environment with routine exposure to operational activity; reasonable accommodations may be made as needed.
