Job title: Non-Credit Paralegal Certificate Program Instructor - Tort Law
About the Role The University of Delaware's Division of Professional and Continuing Studies (UD PCS) seeks a qualified instructor to teach the Tort Law module of its Noncredit Paralegal Certificate Program. This contract position covers two cohorts (2026–2027 and 2027–2028) with hybrid/online delivery and opportunities for annual renewal based on program needs.
What You'll Do
- Deliver the Tort Law module for both cohorts, totaling 39 instructional hours per cohort.
- Manage course logistics, attendance, and ensure Zoom recordings are uploaded in Canvas within 24 hours of class.
- Maintain and update syllabus (Google Doc) and ensure Canvas course shell is ready to publish.
- Collaborate with Instructional Design team to ensure Canvas consistency and accessibility; optional development of asynchronous content.
- Communicate with students: welcome email and syllabus one week before class; respond to inquiries promptly.
- Provide student support and adhere to program service standards; manage office hours and grading timelines.
- Complete required training, obtain copyright permissions, and disclose any proprietary interests prior to course.
- Attend required program events and ceremonies.
What We're Looking For
- Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.
- Active bar admission in good standing preferred.
- Demonstrated Tort Law expertise; experience teaching paralegal, legal studies, or related coursework; experience in adult education/workforce development preferred.
- Proficiency with Zoom and Canvas LMS; ability to learn new tech quickly.
- Strong communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
Nice to Have
- Optional: developing asynchronous content with Instructional Design team.
