Job title: Night Auditor

About the Role The Cape Fox Lodge is seeking a dependable Night Auditor to oversee overnight computer operations, post room and tax charges, and prepare daily accounting reports. The Night Auditor will also register and assist guests, issue room keys, handle guest accounts, and support start-of-day operations.

What You'll Do

  • Close out the business day for hotel and restaurant.
  • Gather restaurant receipts and file accordingly.
  • Greet, register, and assign rooms to guests; issue room keys; transmit and receive messages.
  • Verify guests' credit and establish payment methods for accommodations.
  • Maintain records of room availability and guests' accounts, manually or using computers.
  • Compute bills, collect payments, and make change for guests.
  • Balance cash accounts; perform simple bookkeeping.
  • Review accounts and charges with guests at checkout.
  • Post charges to ledgers for rooms, food, liquor, or telephone calls using computers or manually.
  • Contact housekeeping or maintenance when guests report problems.
  • Make and confirm reservations; answer inquiries about hotel services, registration, dining, entertainment, and travel directions.
  • Record guest comments or complaints and refer to managers as necessary.
  • Advise housekeeping when rooms are vacated and ready for cleaning.
  • Arrange tours, taxis, or restaurant reservations for customers.
  • Deposit guests' valuables in hotel safes or safe-deposit boxes.
  • Print computer-generated accounting reports daily.
  • Balance all accounts in the transactional detail report and ensure daily postings are correct.
  • Print start-of-day reports (arrivals list, special requests list, departure report, daily worksheets) and other required reports.
  • Print incoming registration cards and verify registration cards in the bucket for credit card imprints, address, and signature.
  • Print start-of-day reports and coordinate daily start-of-day processes.

What We're Looking For

  • High School diploma or GED.
  • Hospitality experience is a plus.
  • Exceptional customer service skills and ability to establish and maintain effective and cooperative working relationships.
  • Good organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to effectively and professionally communicate in English with guests, coworkers and supervisors in both written and oral form.
  • Strong work ethic and proactive approach to tasks.
  • Computer savvy with understanding of booking sites plus ability to use reservation systems and other relevant software.
  • Ability to perform accurate mathematical calculations.
  • Flexible availability to work different shifts.
  • Ability to stand for long periods of time and lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Must have authorization to work in the United States.

Nice to Have

  • Hospitality experience is a plus (additional preference).
