NICU Respiratory Therapist

About the Role A NICU Respiratory Therapist delivers specialized respiratory care to neonates in the NICU. This full-time role supports critical care in a collaborative environment at Altru Health with a focus on high-quality patient care and family education. What You'll Do

• Provide diagnostic and therapeutic respiratory treatment and physician assistance in the NICU.
• Deliver patient and family education and support aligned with care plans.
• Document all care and actions in the EMR, orders, charges, and safety incident reports.
• Monitor patient status, identify significant changes, and respond per procedures, including pain assessment and management.
• Disassemble, clean, and assemble respiratory equipment; perform preventive maintenance and proper tagging; deliver equipment as needed.
• Transport infants to/from referral health systems and provide high-quality critical care per organizational guidelines.
• Complete all required documentation and reporting; participate in quality and safety initiatives.
• Perform other duties as assigned to meet department needs. What We're Looking For
• Respiratory Therapist license through the North Dakota State Board of Respiratory Care (or equivalent) prior to start date; additional licensure with Minnesota Board within 6 months of start date.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) within 90 days of start date; Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) and Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) within 6 months of start date.
• Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) within 6 months of start date.
• Preferred: New graduates obtain registry (RRT) within 12 months of start date.
• Proficiency in reading, writing, and speaking English for effective communication in workplace and with patients and team members.
• Ability to meet physical demands and work environment requirements as listed in the posting. Nice to Have
• Registry eligibility or completion within 12 months for new graduates. Compensation & Benefits
• $15,000 sign-on bonus or educational sponsorship available; salary range $32.19-$48.28/hour, plus up to $4.25/hour differential pay and shift pickup incentive.
• 36 hours per week, 12-hour rotating shifts; day/evening/night rotations; every other weekend and holiday.
