About the Role
The New Product Launch Engineer coordinates and executes new product introduction activities for connector and cable products, ensuring readiness of materials, tooling, fixtures, and processes for a smooth transition from development to mass production. The role combines design, modeling, verification, and cross-functional collaboration to meet customer and UL/environmental requirements.
What You'll Do
- Develop new mechanical products including cables and other miscellaneous related mechanical hardware.
- Lead new product development through Product Development Phase Gate Process from concept to volume production; design includes 3D Modeling, 2D Drawings, design layouts, engineering changes, technical documents, tolerance analysis, product testing, etc.
- Work with manufacturing engineering to develop manufacturing processes utilizing the latest 3D CAD modeling techniques and other Design for Manufacturability (DFM) tools.
- Provide technical support to customers, suppliers, and inside product marketing personnel.
- Use risk reduction tools to perform FEA, model simulation etc. Design analysis is expected; Provides input to the DFMEA analysis of the product as required.
- Performs design verification activities to ensure that design meets the specifications of the customer, UL requirements, and environmental testing.
- Coordinate and execute new product introduction activities for connector and cable products; ensure readiness of materials, tooling, fixtures, and processes, support validation builds, resolve technical issues, and provide manufacturability input to design teams.
- Ensure a smooth transition of new products from development into stable mass production.
What We're Looking For
- Education: BS in an engineering discipline (required) or a minimum of 5 years engineering experience; MS in an engineering discipline preferred.
- Work Experience: 5 years’ engineering experience with an engineering degree required; 10 years’ experience in connector or cable development preferred.
- Skills: Good writing and spoken English; Understanding of tolerance analysis, DFMEA, FEA; Knowledge of component design (injection, die casting, sheet metal); Proficient in solid modeling to generate 3D models & 2D drawings; drafting standards and design layout; MS Word, Excel, Project, and PowerPoint; ability to work independently and communicate with global cross-functional teams.
- Nice to Have: Experience with FEA, Thermal Simulation, SPC software.
