About the Role
New Hampshire Public Defender offers a comprehensive New Lawyer Training program to develop and support new attorneys. The program emphasizes mentorship, extensive training, and collaboration to help new lawyers build a durable foundation and stay with the program over the long term.
What You'll Do
- Participate in the 5-week New Lawyer Training program, which includes hands-on sessions led by experienced trial lawyers and educators.
- Work with a mentoring attorney who co-counsels cases and accompanies you to court in the early months.
- Attend tours of correctional facilities, observe court sessions, and acclimate in your home office while meeting court personnel and prosecutors.
- Engage with inter-office case conferences, weekly meetings, and IT resources to support case management and discovery.
- Access the Practice Guide and collaborate with colleagues on various areas of criminal practice.
