About this role
New Construction Manager
$110 - 135K / year
About the role
Location: Cleveland, OH (on-site at the shipyard, shore-based)
Mural Group is leading a search for a long-established Cleveland marine company that has built most of its tug fleet in its own shipyard. They are in the process of reopening the shipyard's new-construction division.
Our client is hiring a New Construction Manager to lead that program from planning through delivery. This is a build-the-process role: you'll stand the division back up, then run it. Unlike most construction leadership jobs, it's one stable Cleveland site, not a travel schedule.
What you'll own
-
Program delivery: Lead vessel construction projects from planning through delivery, starting with two new tugs.
-
Rebuilding the process: Re-establish the new-construction operating process — work packages, sequencing, procurement, and closeout.
-
Schedule: Build and run the master schedule; plan labor, equipment, and materials against it.
-
Budget: Own the program budget, job-cost tracking, and change management.
-
Safety: Lead shipyard safety, including hot work and confined space, with authority to stop unsafe or nonconforming work.
-
Quality: Coordinate inspections, QC documentation, and nonconformance resolution.
-
People: Lead and develop foremen and multi-trade crews — fitters, welders, pipefitters, electricians, and outfitting.
-
Vendors and subcontractors: Select, manage, and hold accountable the outside suppliers and subs the program depends on.
-
Reporting: Keep shipyard and company leadership current on schedule, cost, and risk.
